Luxury Resort Services

October 6, 2011

Well, it seems to be that time of the year again.

We received a call from Luxury Resort Services on Monday. The caller said he was calling on behalf of "the only company authorized by Grupo Vidanta (or Grupo Mayan - can't remember exactly) to contact its Grand Luxxe members to offer to buy their contracts", or something very similar to these words. He claimed Luxury Resort Services has an exclusive relationship with Grupo Vidanta. The claim is wrong!

He went on to say that his company was buying for Cemex contracts that Grand Luxxe members no longer wanted for one reason or another. Cemex would buy the contracts and subsequently write them off. Tax write off??? Really? I don't think so!

I asked him where the company is headquartered. Portland, he said. I asked about the company's business. He said he would send me information by fax.

Instead of faxing the information, his associate emailed us a letter, which was an offer to buy our contract for over $95,000.

The writer suggested we get started by having us send him our contract number, name, address and telephone number. Really? I don't think so!.

We subsequently called Cemex corporate headquarters in Houston. The person we called said Cemex has been implicated in a number of false promises, and it is highly unlikely Cemex is currently offering to buy Grand Luxxe contracts.

This offer does not appear to be legitimate.

The best way for us to fight back and be protected is to warn each other of these activities and shed light on who they are.

Stay tuned....

FYI, Grupo Vidanta reiterated that the Company has not authorized ANY company to contact its members to solicit them for ANY reason.

If you have information about scams you want to share with Grupo Vidanta, one person to call is Javier Ambrosio. His letter to one of our fellow Grand Luxxe members appears below. Alternatively, use the contact information in the May 17, 2011 letter sent out by Sr. Felix Aceves Sepulveda, Chief Financial Officer for the Grand Luxxe.
