Platinum Status - Real or Not?

December 22, 2016

We have a story from an Aimfair member about his Platinum experience in Riviera Maya:

Vidanta Platinum Service at Riviera Mayan
We have been members of Vidanta for over 12 years. We started as Mayan Palace owners in Puerto Penasco, by trading in two time share that we weren't really using. Along the way we achieved "Platinum Status" which didn't mean much to us.

As with all the extra addendum's and attachments sales tacks onto our contract, we felt it had little value, and made little difference to our basic lodging choices in the real world. That was until our recent two weeks in Riviera Mayan.

Things started to look a little different at the Cancun airport when we noticed that a couple of other Vidanta guests who had arrived at the transportation loading station after us, were picked up by the Vidanta airport shuttle taxi service ahead of us. My wife went over to the man in charge of dispatching to find out what was going on. The dispatcher said they were going in regular taxi's and our Limousine was on the way. Our Limousine turned out to be a brand new Lincoln Navigator with a smartly dressed driver who spoke excellent English, and we were quickly whisked away in luxury to our special check-in spot.

After check-in we were introduced to OUR special VIP concierges, Maybelline, Andrea and Carlos. They were very attentive to our wishes the whole time were in Riviera Maya. They were assigned to us 24 hours a day, to make reservation, get carts, arrange golf times, and make our stay more relaxing. Another couple was staying with us as our guest so they were included in the special treatment. I have a little difficulty walking, so if I wanted to go to the pool, the Platinum Concierge's brought a special VIP tram to take us to the pool of our choice. When we went to a restaurant on the property, they sent a private tram to take us to the restaurant, where a special table was waiting. Somehow they knew when we were finished and had paid our check, so there was a tram waiting there to take us back to our room or wherever we were going. This attention to detail went on every day for our two week stay.

When we checked out and were returning to the airport, they had another complimentary brand new Lincoln Navigator Limousine that took us right to our airplane check-in spot at the airport.

It felt very nice to be pampered like that and it never happened before. I'd like to think that kind of service would always be there. Maybe it is something new, or maybe it was only at Riviera Maya. Hopefully this was not a one time wonder, and we can look forward to similar experiences on our upcoming visit to Nuevo Vallarta in April.
What do you think?

We mentioned our experience when we visited Nuevo Vallarta in November. Although we did not have a Lincoln Navigator Limosine pick us up at the airport, we did have a bright, new, white car with a very courteous driver. We asked who he worked for and where he drove. He said his job is to drive Vidanta members from the airport to the resort. "See the "V" on the front window? That shows this car only works with Vidanta." Thank you for sharing your experience. Platinum Membership appears to be very promising!!
