Walking The Nuevo Vallarta Property At Night

November 6, 2016

We arrived early, fully expecting checking-in delays because of past experiences. Not that they have been bad. Its just the process has never met the objectives of membership levels created by marketing initiatives. What does that mean? Quite simply, for example, the goal of checking in on the floor of your assigned room has never been a reality......until today!

Well to our surprise, the process was effortless. Yes, we arrived by driving along the 2 mile new entrance, which by the way is the same distance as the drive along Boulevard de Nayarit to the old entrance. Frankly, we like the new raod batter because it is smoother and the scenery is much more pleasant. Regardless, we arrived at the taxi stand and the bellmen greated us with their traditionally positive "Hola", "Bienvenido" and "Welcome home....", which we love. Indeed, we are ready for our vacation!

Then another bellman arrived with the traditional luggage cart, it was loaded up, and we were all set to start our normal process of waiting for a shuttle to take us to a tower, where we would wait for the front desk to announce that our room was ready. We arrived on the property at about 4:30, so we were prepared to wait for a half an hour before we could start the check in process.

No, no, no......not to be the case! Instead, we were told to wait while our bellman could get a shuttle cart and take both our luggage and us directly to the floor in the tower we were assigned. What???!!! That process had been described for three or four years.....but we have never experienced it. A wonderful objective, but difficult to implement because of many back room issues that we members are not privy to.

Off we went to our tower, up we went in the elevator and there we met our concierge, who was waiting with pen in hand, registration forms ready to complete and wrist bands at the ready. In all, the process of leaving the cab and entering our room took all of about 20 minutes! Can you belive it? Luggage was unpacked, clothes were changed and we were set to start our vacation after no more than one hour from saying "gracias" to our taxi driver. Incredible, but true. Bottom line....one marketing objective has come to fruition! Well done!!

So, off we went to Chiringuitos to enjoy our traditional first night dinner. The following photos show what we encountered:

The meal at Chiringuitos was disappointing because we were expecting our "Tapas" for dinner. The menu has changed, and the offering is a bit more sophisticated than what one would expect at a beach-side restaurant. The Beat Salad was good, and the fish stew salad was just OK. Mary Ann had the Seared Tuna, which she enjoyed. But that said, the menu change was not expected.

One final note: Tacos Break on Bouldevard de Nayarit is no longer a "company owned store". Instead, we believe the new taco and burrito stand in the Mercado opposite the Azur Restaurant has taken its place. The menu looks interesting and the guests who were enjoying their meal seemed content. No more having to take the family to the front of the property to find an inexpensive, filling meal.
All in all, our first experience of the season was terrific with the one exception regarding Chiringuitos....Stay Tuned....
