Mike has included us again in his vacation celebrations. He returned to Riviera Maya during the Dia de los Muertos celebrations as well as after the hurricane hit. His photos provide a sense of the celebration on the 2nd of November and of the damage caused by Edna. There is a lot of work ahead, but the structures are in good shape. Dia de los Muertos Celebrations in Riviera Maya:

The setting is welcoming family and friends to return during the Dia de los Muertos celebrations.



The party is energetic!



Costumes are the order of the day.

Characters of all sorts remind everyone that the celbrations are to be enjoyed.

In the meantime, hurricane damage to the piers is prevalent:

Piers were damaged beyond repair.


Damaged piers.


More damaged piers.

Piers were damaged extensively.


Lots of trees fell, but not much damage to buildings.


Digging out the Palapas is a high priority.

These photos were taken in Riviera Maya in November, 2020. The resort was about 20% occupied. The hurricane damage consisted mainly of branches and fallen trees.
