The Vidanta Forum - May 16 - May 19, 2018

April 28, 2018

Have you read Falling Behind by Francis Fukuyama? The book was published in 2008 by the Oxford University Press. It is the compilation contributions made by participants in the November 2005 seminar in Buenos Aires entitled "Explaining the Development Gap between Latin America and the United States".

The question posed by the author and the seminar is why did Latin American fall behind the "other" America when Bolivia and Peru were both richer and hosted more complex civilizations than any that existed in North America in 1700? The subject of the book is how and when this gap in economic performance emerged, and why Latin America has not been able to overcome it as many countries in East Asia have. The seminar was supported by the Fundación Grupo Mayan, which is the precursor of the Vidanta Forum sponsor - Vidanta Foundation.

If you are on the Nuevo Vallarta property between May 16 and 19, 2018, don't be surprised if you see 450 attendees enjoying the property. There also will be a number of dignitaries who will be participating, including Daniel J. Chavéz Moran, founder of the foundation and Roberto Russel, the foundation's president now and of the Fundación Grupo Mayan in 2008. Following is the news release announcing the seminar:
