Realty Power

October 11, 2012

Jill contacted us today about a company called Realty Power. The website is www.Realty-Power.com. She asked if we knew anything about it. Our answer....no, until now.

It seems this name is a registered trade name owned by a legitimate California Realtor. He is licensed in good standing, owns a California Corporation that is registered and active with the Department of Corporations and owns a licensed mortgage banking firm. There is considerable business history associated with the owner of the Realty Power trade mark.

This is a very suspicious set of circumstances:
  • A licensed real estate broker owns 13 trade names, 8 are active and 5 are inactive (http://www2.dre.ca.gov/PublicASP/pplinfo.asp?License_id=00414413).
  • One of the active trade names is Realty Power.
  • The broker who owns the name claims the name is inactive, even though it shows as active by the California Department of Real Estate.
  • Realty Power has a website called http://www.realty-power.com.
  • The address listed on the website is the broker's address in Fremont, CA.
  • The Realty Power representatives, who signed the letters, are licensed by the State of California and employed by Realty Power and the named real estate broker. (http://www2.dre.ca.gov/PublicASP/pplinfo.asp?function=sales&License_id=00414413&start=1) Eighty nine representatives are listed as part of the real estate broker's independent contractor list.
  • The real estate broker claims he knows nothing about his sales people soliciting the sale of timeshare interests.
  • An Aimfair member asked the sales representative a number of questions, such as does he know the name of the person who is the broker in the company he works for. The representative then asked our member to speak with his supervisor, who was not the listing real estate broker.

In addition, two of the company's sales persons allegedly signed letters containing financial offers, complete with the broker's address.

Following is one of two letters from apparently properly licensed Realty Power representatives: (Click on the image to enlarge.)(We will post the second letter later today.)
