Nuevo Vallarta - The Park - Progress Report
March 17, 2017
The Park, as it is called by Theme Park University
is progressing toward an estimated opening date of late 2018 for phase one. According to Theme Park University, phase one will be one large water park. In fact, "It seems that the water park will be the focus of phase one and it may just be the most elaborate water park ever built.", according to Josh Young, the author of the article. The next stage will not be completed until 2021 or 2022.
The following photo from the air shows how far along the hotels are today:
Construction of the new theme park is progressing rapidly. Reportedly, one of the hotels is the multi-level structure. The other structures may be the base for the water park. It seems hard to imagine there will be a finished Phase One by the end of 2018. We will all have to watch in awe...
Seen from the Grand Bliss on the east side of the tower are skeletons of hotels under construction. The main attraction is an elaborate water park, which is referred to by Josh Young of Theme Park University.
There may be two hotels under construction: Cascades and Kingdom of the Sun. According to the image, the water park may be between the two hotels.
This image provides a view of the construction area from the main gate to the ramp from and to Highway 200. Reportedly, the Nicklaus Driving range will become part of the park. That may not happen until the second phase in 2021 or 2022.
The Park construction is progressing rapidly. However, it seems hard to imagine there will be a finished "Phase One" by the end of 2018. We will all have to watch in awe...
It is unclear whether this image is a rendering of the Water Park or if this will be part of Phase Two. The title is Valley of the Blue Waters. It seems to be a feature that is located near the Nicklaus Driving Range. Of course, all is subject to change, so who knows....
This image shows a Google Earth image of the Theme Park under construction as of July 10, 2016. Note the changes that have taken place since then. Progress!
We will continue to show changes to the area as we receive members' photos. No question there is a lot of work being done. Vidanta expects up to 1 million visitors to this first phase of a two phase project. The primary draw will be the water parks. It appears the first one will be Cascades Water Park. If successful, Vidanta may proceed with phase two, which might include the Valley of the Blue Waters water park. This featured item looks fun, but as usual, we will all have to wait. Maybe four years from now, in 2022.
The Park Hotels construction is moving along. Phase One Goal - Complete by the end of 2018....Stay tuned....!
