Would anyone in Nuevo Vallarta now like to tell us where the fence line is?

Follow this link and maybe let us know by emailing us or posting in Owners Corner: Nuevo Vallarta Entrance to Grand Mayan from Sea Garden.

Thank you from all of us....

Change - the only constant in life! We all know the adage. In our personal lives, professional lives and in society.

Well, about five hours ago, we received an email from a friend in Nuevo Vallarta. He thought we would be interested and sent us the following link: Grand Luxxe on Facebook.

Now, some of you may have already seen this great presentation, but it is new to us. We think it is a great way to spread the word, and the change is in the way the organization presented themselves.

Certainly a change from a few years ago, that is for sure. Congratulations to those who are managing the change in the Grand Luxxe Residence Club, Vida Vacation Club and Grupo Vidanta, is what we say!

Nuevo Vallarta: Through Gary III on the Owners Forum, Ron informed us that there is now a gate that prevents auto and pedestrian access to the property from the road that leads from the Sea Garden.

This changes the way we access restaurants called Prime, EStudio, Don Quixote, Ochos Tostadas, Eddies, Guidos, the marina and etc.

Although we did not understand the full impact of what we were told, during our last visit we were told that autos would no longer be allowed on the property. That seemed like an admirable goal, but we did not realize pedestrian traffic would be restricted as well.

Security is extremely important given the conflicts we all read about. This may be the best way to maintain tightened security, which is the good news.

The logistics of going anywhere could become a major issue. Given the length of time we had to wait for transportation in November, the new scheme may add to the wait times, not take away from them.

Also, it seems the number of cabs will have to increase, considerably.

Finally, if the plan is to take cabs from the new entrance area, which is near the highway and is a possibility, then we all will become better planners. Spontaneity may leave our vocabulary.

We welcome more explanations from Ron and others.

You may recognize Ron and Gary III. Both have been active contributors by providing comments on the Forum and many wonderful photos during the construction phases. Thank you Ron and Gary III.

Before leaving the matter of the Forum, you will note that a list of the last 20 posts appears at the bottom of the first page of the Forum. This will help us keep track of changes.

Also, we are exploring ways to create a clear Reply text box and put together the email responder.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Thanks to all for your Aimfair.com member feedback regarding User Name and the "1" item when paying with PayPal.

When completing the PayPal form, the User Name we are asking for is your Aimfair.com User Name for authentication purposes.

Also, the number "1" item refers to the number of subscription periods (i.e.) one year (365 days).

As long as we are on business matters, today marks the one month anniversary for our new platform. We are very pleased with everyone's acceptance of our transition and continued support. We thank you all for that.

For those of you who have forgotten about the need to Subscribe during our trial period, you may notice that your account has changed from a Subscribing Member account to a Registered Member account. You can easily change this by submitting payment through PayPal or by check.

Please note that our bank charges $25 to process a personal check that is not in US dollars and from a non-US bank. So, please make your payment through PayPal or send us a US Money order or Certified Check in USD. Most likely it is easier to establish a PayPal account.

We are all learning about the features offered through our new platform, especially yours truly! Therefore, please be patient as we move through issues of navigation and improved interaction.

One question that frequently arises has to do with the Forum. When replying to a post, what is your preference?
  1. A reply box that does not repeat the original post? In this case, you can refer to all or a part of the original post to which you are replying.

  2. Leaving the reply box the way it is.

Our goal is ease of use. Let us know by making your comments on the Forum under the topic of Forum Preferences.

Finally, many Aimfair.com members are leaving the snow and ice for their vacations in the sun by the beach. Some have volunteered to keep us updated with the progress at their destination resorts. We look forward to their photos and comments. As a reminder, the Let's Get Together pages are active. You too can participate by following this link to the Calendar item on the Members Bar (Orange bar).

Happy traveling.

Good morning. A wonderful day it is, we hope. Somewhere the sun is shining. Not here, though. Just fog.

Which brings to mind websites and computer systems. Sometimes it seems we are in a fog. I may see something on my computer and Mary Ann may not be able to see what I see because she may be using a different system than I.

Well, it turns out that we are experiencing a bit of that on our website. We have received calls from registered members of Aimfair who want to pay to become a subscribing member and cannot see the "Join" button on the horizontal orange bar, which we call the Members Bar.

If you are experiencing this issue, you can follow this link to our Join page. Another work around for this is to click on Grand Luxxe on the horizontal blue bar, which we cal the Resorts Bar. Once the page loads, you will see a link in green that offers an opportunity to join Aimfair. Follow that link to the Payment bar, and you will be taken to PayPal.

We are working through some of these quirks and appreciate your patience.

A Subscribing member of Aimfair wrote to ask if others have seen a change in their account numbers. She said she tried to use the automated reservation system with her contract number and found the system would not accept it. So, she called the Contact Center and asked why her contract number no longer worked in the system.

The agent looked up her contract number, said her account number has changed and gave her a new number.

Have others experienced the same thing? Any explanations provided?

We heard the company was going to change its computer system, so possibly the new system requires a different numbering system. Also, we know that Vida Vacation Club is now the operating entity, and perhaps the new numbering system is related to this change. If you have any comments, let us know or post them in the Forum or on the Nuevo Vallarta Corners.

Have a great day!

Did you all see this? We are getting all sorts of fun contributions. The Nuevo Vallarta Fliers are having a ball!

Thank you for your great parasailing photo!!

On a more sober note, we have received documents that one of our members would like to share. These documents outline the process companies pursue to get access to thousands of dollars from well meaning people. We will be posting them on the Nuevo Vallarta Corners for everyone to view. The concepts are easy to believe, but maybe too good to be true. Stay tuned!

Speaking of photos, Darrin has been using a Microsoft service called Photosynth. This service allows users to stitch photos together to create amazing views of their subjects.

In April, 2010, Darrin provided us with some of his work, which we all loved.

On January 2, 2011, Darrin provided us with more photos. So, we decided to combine the sequences of his photos in a Nuevo Vallarta Corner. You can view these great sequences from these links:
Check them out. They are lot's of fun! Thank you from all of us, Darrin.

Also, Don responded to our request for photos of Mazatlan. We received them and are working to post them as we speak. Thank you Don for your contributions as well.

Do we have wonderful photos or what? And you all know their origins.....from you! We have some very unique and high resolution photos.

That is the GOOD NEWS!

The not so good news is these great high resolution photos (We could list 50 or more of you who have contributed to this site.) take up something called "bandwidth". To me, it means we slow down. In fact, Tom wrote us on Monday to report that our loading speeds were slightly faster than John's tortoise as she worked on her nest at Nuevo Vallarta last August.

Well, we are working on the issue. First we have moved the site to a new server. This server is not shared and should provide all of us with the speed we need to communicate with each other.

Second, we are going to better manage the size of our photo files. There are a few photos that are currently out of commission because they are too large to accommodate fast loading speeds. We will be making changes, and then allow them to return.

Third, we are going to become more efficient in our use of photos. This does not mean we are leaving anything out. It means we will provide avenues to view everyone's wonderful photos, not on main street.

So, we appreciate your patience as we work through our learning curve.

Speaking of learning curves, Stephen is at the top of his game. He wrote us to suggest that we construct an interactive structure that allows members to post recommendations for all sorts of activities and services. He thought it would be great if we create a facility for each property location that allows members to describe their experiences with and make recommendations for different categories of services/activities. His bottom line is he would rather trust a fellow member's recommendations than recommendations from sources he does not know.

Great idea and we will adopt it.

Thank you all for participating. After all, it is about making connections with and exchanging ideas among folks with common interests. Stay tuned!!

Meals at the Nuevo Vallarta property, meal plans and exchange opportunities - these are subjects that several viewers have been discussing or have brought to our attention. They seem disjointed but really are not. Each topic raises the issue of getting value for the dollar spent.

  1. One Subscriber warns us to be careful about ordering ala carte at Cafe del Lago, or any of the other resort restaurants for that matter. When a family member ordered only a bowl of lettuce ala carte, the price was pretty high - about $14 USD. A bowl of fruit, when ordered ala carte, could cost the same as the buffet breakfast.

The lesson learned: Ask "Quantos dinero, por favor?" if you are uncertain. We all know that prices could be high at on site resort restaurants. Sometimes we forget to ask for details. Asking will help avoid "sticker shock".

  2. On the subject of meals, Subscribers on the Forum have been discussing the benefits of Meal Plans. Some feel they are a great value, while others feel off site restaurants are preferable. Regardless of your choice, the consensus seems to be Meal Plans offer the highest value if you use the tickets for dinners.

  3. Exchange Companies: Julien, who is a long time Grand Mayan owner, offered "Grand Mayan-Grand Bliss owners use HSI Primarily and Registry way before they would even touch RCI. And we also have SFX, which is far superior than RCI. If I were you, I would take the RCI out of the equation.

Thanks Julien. We hear the RCI resorts are not equivalent to the Grand Mayan offering with one possible exception - Hawaii. We do not think there are any Registry resorts in Hawaii. Thoughts from others are welcome; you can post them on the Owners Forum.

  4. Vida Vacation Direct Exchange is an offering to all owners through Vida Vacation Club. Resorts at Orlando, Las Vegas and Hawaii are currently part of the program. We have confirmed that the program does exist. However, the same issue with II exists with the Direct Exchange Program - The resorts in the program do not equate to the value offered by the Grand Luxxe. Contact Vicki at the Grand Luxxe Residence Club for more information.
Thank you for your comments. Send us an email at infoaboutus@aimfair.com or start a new Topic in the Owners Forum. The Forum offers a great way to share your experiences and learn from others.

Happy New Year!!

Yes, we know, its a day late. But we wanted everyone to recover from their late night or early morning. Believe, us, we know what it was like at 1:30 AM on January 1, 2011.

First, we would like to welcome everyone to our new platform. Some of you are familiar with the original site, while some may be first timers.

We share lots of great information here, contributed by the many people who enjoy their stays at one of the seven cities in which Gurpo Vidanta operates properties. Sharing is what we are all about here,

Dave has given us all the wonderful photos from the air and the Sand Bar. Also, we are just now getting through the many wonderful photos Charles and his family provided us. Also, Examples appears below:

Also, we have many other photos and comments that are coming from everyone...."what about whale watching"...photos from Mazatlan's Sea Garden...excursions to the Marieta Island....horse back riding.....all fun things to do. Maybe zip lining or cross country biking?

Charles R has provided us with a wealth of photos that we will be posting over the next several weeks. Thank you, Charles for giving us all the opportunity to view your world through your images.

Stay tuned, we have lots to see and do in this wonderful New Year!
