Views of The Punta Pool Area and Grounds by Sleepdoc

November 28, 2012

Nuevo Vallarta is changing. All for the better, in our very humble opinions.

Regardless, what better way to see what is happening than to compare one year or period with another. That is exactly what Sleepdoc did.

But before we get to the comparisons, let's don't forget to display the newest pool to open at Nuevo Vallarta. The Crandells were there when it opened and provided us with their snapshots of this lovely pool area too. BTW, we hear the Pallea at the Chiringuito at the Grand Bliss pool is to die for. We heard about this from Gordon, Judy, Lisa and David. Here is the Grand Bliss pool as seen by Sleepdoc:

OK, now on with the tour. Let's take a look at an overview of the changes from December, 2010 to March, 2012 to November, 2012:

Note what many we have talked to say is a major enhancement - the lawn area between the Mayan Palace pools and the lagoon. The lawn area opens the view to the ocean, and makes the space seem so inviting, don't you think?

Since we are talking about pools, let's next see the differences between the Grand Luxxe Punta pools between March, 2012 and November 2012. BTW, although one of the reasons for all the change at the Punta pool end of the property had to do with heating the Punta pools, when we swam in that infinity pool, it seemed warm to me. When I mentioned the warmth to Westwinds and others, they simply laughed and let me know what a really heated pool should be. Oh well....

Another reason for changing the Punta pool was to reduce the possibility of allowing crocadiles on the property You know there have been sightings on the golf course. The solution was to create a waterway from the Grand Luxxe Tower V to the tip of the Punta pool area. This waterway is lined with a rubberized material that is very slippery. Oh, yes, the waterway also serves another purpose that will be fun for all of us. Boat rides to the beach.

Note the roadway from Grand Luxxe Tower I to Towers II and III in the March photo. Half of it is gone in the November photo. In fact, we were told that on or about Wednesday, November 21, crews would start replacing the roadway with the new navigable waterway. What fun!

At the East end of the Grand Luxxe area, the projects that are getting lots of attention include finishing Grand Luxxe Tower IV A (one of the SPA towers) in 2013, completing Grand Luxxe Tower IV B, starting and moving rapidly on building Grand Luxxe Tower V A and B (the Residence Towers - fininshing Tower V A by the end of 2013) and finally completing the new swimming pool complex. Work is proceeding with the two towers, and you can see changes in the new pool complex between March, 2012 and November, 2012.

What is very apparent is the how the navigable waterway will encircle the new pool area. Pretty spectacular, don't you think?

There is one other structure that is not part of the Grand Luxxe area but will become an important facility for all of us. Yes, we are talking about the Mayan Palace Towers. Last November, the south tower was demolished. Here are photos sleepdoc took in March, 2012 and November, 2012. The "see through" or south section will have lots of shopping areas, areas for corporate meegings and a ballroom that will have breathtaking views of the property.

So that brings us to the end of the tour. Hungry? Let's electronically head to the Burger Custom Made restaurant, which is in the lobby area of the Punta and now open for breakfast. Of course, it was not open just 10 days ago when sleepdoc took this last photo:
