Expiring and Unused Bonus Week Offer

July 30, 2019

Scams are everywhere. A recent one that caught our attention and the attention of other Aimfair members is the notice that your alleged bonus weeks are about to expire. The presenter states in a certificate that you have the right to reserve specific weeks through this alleged bonus week program. All you do is pay for the week and you can use it. The alternative option is to pay for the week and Vidanta-group.com will rent it for you and guarantee a certain amount of money.

Following is the certificate:

Tap the image to expand, then tap your browser's back arrow to return to this page.

This looks legitimate doesn't it? If you actually follow up with this offer and send money, the likelihood is you will lose your money. Not likely to receive a bonafide reservation number, and you will not likely get your money back.

Just follow a few simple steps. The easiest is to check the sender's domain on whois.domaintools.com. Type in the domain name, which in this case is vidanta-grupo.com. You will find among other things the creation and expiration date for the domain. Here is the creation and expiration date for vidanta-group.com:

Domain Name: vidanta-group.com
Updated Date: 2018-09-04T20:07:16Z
Creation Date: 2018-09-04T20:07:16Z
Registrar Registration Expiration Date: 2020-09-04T20:07:16Z

The point of this exercise is to compare what we know about Vidanta with the creation and expiration dates for the domain. In this case, it is highly unlikely that Vidanta created the domain in 2018 and allow it to expire in 2020. Furthermore, the domain is not one of the official domains listed in a recent email from Vidanta.
