The Mayan Palace Resorts was a pivotal Grupo Mayan brand.

According to WikiBin and Mayanresorts.info (This link is no longer active.), Grupo Mayan Resorts began operations in 1975 with its first property called Pariso Mazatlan. A second property followed in 1979, which was called Pariso del Mar, also located in Mazatlan. In 1984, the then fledgling Grupo Mayan Resorts inaugurated its third property in Mazatlan, which the company called Costa Brava Hotel (Brave Coast Hotel). This hotel is located only a short walk from the Paraiso del Mar. Later, Costa Brava Hotel changed its name to Vidafel Mazatlan, which later was changed again to Sea Garden.

The next moves for Grupo Mayan were significant. Consider the following activity:
Year Comments
1988 Mayan Palace at the 200 acre Acapulco site opens.
1995 Earthquake damages Vidafel Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta.
1997 Mayan Palace at Nuevo Vallarta opens.
1998 Reconstructed Vidafel Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta is named Mayan Palace.
2001 (Dec.) Riviera Maya Mayan Palace is inaugurated.
2003 (Jan) Mayan Palace La Jolla de Cortes, near Puerto Penasco opens for business.

Mayan Palace is located on six properties and is the name sake for Grupo Mayan.

In October, 2008 we learned through a fellow member that 1) Vedanta Capital Group owns the Grupo Mayan brands and 2) Mayan Palace is included in the brands owned by Vedanta Capital Group.

This was news to us especially since we purchased our Grand Luxxe units at Nuevo Vallarta in December, 2007 and heard nothing of these events.

Since then, we have learned more about the Mayan Palace. It is a highly regarded resort in the travel industry and is very popular among the many Canadians, Americans and Mexican Nationals who spend annual vacations at one of the beach side locations.

Although many owners of Mayan Palace rights to use contracts have upgraded, there are many more who are very satisfied with the accommodations they have access to through their contract rights.

Based upon photos we have received from fellow members, Mayan Palace units provide hotel like accommodations on beautiful properties.

Note: All Mayan Palace rooms are configured in the same way at each Mayan Palace location. Only the structure of the resort complex might be different.

To provide you with a glimpse of five of the six Mayan Palace resorts, we found on YouTube five excellent videos that were shared by a very informative RCIVacations. RCI is one of the timeshare industry's largest exchange companies and is owned by Wyndham Worldwide. Grupo Vidanta, now operating as Vida Vacation Club has a long standing operating relationship with RCI.

These videos were published in 2017, so the properties may now appear changed with all the new construction that has taken place since then.

Agreements for Lodging Rights and Services plus any accompanying addenda define the terms of use of the Mayan Palace facilities as well as the terms of sale.

The Grupo Vidanta International Sales organization creates many ways to configure offers to sell Lodging Rights agreements to prospective buyers. Generally, in addition to identifying the Member's names, the agreements specify the type of unit, registration numbers, Classification and Type of use.

Addenda specify additional benefits buyers may negotiate to include in their Lodging Rights agreements and can be valuable.

Terms of sales change with changes in the demand for and supply of the different levels of accommodations that become available to sell.
