Second Quarter - 2009

June 30, 2009
Here we are, looking at photos from Tim and his family and Steve and Sandra. On the one hand, we are excited to see all the progress. On the other hand, we understand how the transition from older buildings to newer ones creates tension between different resort owners. One thing we know for sure is the Grupo Vidanta / Grupo Mayan management team is juggling many balls at this time. The end game will be beautifully upgraded properties!
June 27 and June 29, 2009
Thanks Tim and Family! Tim and his family recently returned from the Grand Mayan resort at Riviera Maya and contributed some additional photos of the Luxxe Villa models.

We also spent some time talking with them about the property and the changes that are taking place at the Riviera Maya location. We are organizing their input so we can post it on our Riviera Maya section.

Thanks again to Steve and Sandra. They provided us with their update a few weeks ago, which you can see in Current News and Construction at NV. Last night, they sent us photos to add dimension to their comments. We can't wait for you to see them! We have seen posts on other sites that expressed concern over the lack of action taking place and the closing of certain amenities at the Nuevo property, like the boats and train. You will see why they have been curtailed when we post Steve and Sandra's photos.

Since September 2008, we have had over 9,600 visits to our website. You know we are very excited about the Grand Luxxe Residence Club. Also, we are thrilled to see the interest displayed by everyone visiting our website. Some of you participated in our Poll asking why owners rent their weeks.

A second question we would like to raise is how many viewers are owners in the Grand Luxxe Residence Club. All you have to do is answer "yes" or "no" to the Poll that appears on the Want to Participate? page. Your answers will help us enormously.

Finally, we know that many visitors feel this is a Nuevo Vallarta oriented website. Although we started with Nuevo Vallarta, we want to provide information about what is happening in the other Grupo Mayan / Grupo Vidanta resort locations as well. So, please feel free to participate and contribute what ever updates photos you may have. Please contact us at infoaboutus@aimfair.com for more information.

We have heard from Steve and Sandra. They returned from two "fantastic weeks" at the Nuevo Vallarta Grand Mayan Resort and wanted to share their observations with us and other owners /visitors /guests /viewers. We have taken the liberty of providing comments on what they said in their recent email to us. You can read about their impressions of progress at Nuevo Vallarta in Current News and Construction at NV. Thank you Steve and Sandra. We all appreciate the time you took to prepare and send your comments.

We hear many concerns about the availability of amenities at the Nuevo Vallarta Mayan properties. Recent visitors have reported the train is not operating, the boats are not operating, the Mayan Palace pool is closed, the Grand Mayan wave pools are not operating and two bedroom Mayan Palace units are scarce, if not impossible to reserve. The most likely explanation comes from the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SA April 30 report, which stated airlines were cancelling flights and expectations for May were dismal. Click here for the company's most recent report. Certainly, the Bloomberg report about turning the corner for the economy in Mexico is promising, and we anticipate tourists will return soon.

Comments from travelers who have visited any of the Grupo Vidanta / Grupo Mayan resorts are welcome. Share your experiences on the Luxxe Owner's Forum or send comments and pictures by email to infoaboutus@aimfair.com. With your permission, we would love to share your experiences with our growing community of viewers.

One of our viewers asked about the economy in Mexico. We posted an article we copied from the Bloomberg News, printed in thenews.com.mx on June 5. According to the article, political leaders believe the worst is over in Mexico. The full article is in Current News.

We do not want to commercialize your and our website. On the other hand, we do want to let visitors know that there are options to rent weeks available here as well as elsewhere. Our family gathering will take place earlier in November as opposed to Christmas week, which has been our traditional gathering week. Given the ages of the little ones, the work schedules of the bigger ones and the ones that are on the way, flexibility became the by-word for 2009. So, thank you for your understanding and willingness to overlook our attempt to "reach out".

We received our Interval International Gold package on Saturday, but did not spend too much time trying to understand what we received. However, there was a certificate, which we had not seen before (we were Gold Members in earlier days) and there seemed to be a new service called Options. Options seems to provide access to golf courses, spas and cruises. Comments from anyone who has received and studied their package are welcome. The Forum would be a good place to post comments if you wanted to. Or you can send us an email as well.

Did you know? Grupo Mayan formed a foundation, which, on May 1, 2008 became Fundacion Grupo Vidanta. This foundation has an important mission and specific objectives. The foundation is funded "entirely with resources contributed by members of stock companies belonging to Grupo Vidanta engaged in the construction, hotel and real estate." The funding by Grupo Vidanta is provided to "guarantee the continuity of purpose that inspired it and maintaining the autonomy of the activities undertaken." The undertaking demonstrates again to us owners' the level of commitment to excellence. Read more about the foundation and its efforts.

Thanks to Frank and Linda for letting us all know that Google Maps shows a more updated view of the Nuevo Vallarta Mayan Property. The Luxxe Tower is clearly visible as are the new lakes, water ways and expanding golf course. Quite fun to see the new map in connection with the older ones others have share with us. Take a look at the link in the Nuevo Property Maps page.

More activity from Grupo Mayan. If interested, you might want to review a website that provides statements from Grupo Mayan about its resort and real estate projects. It appears this blog could be the communication foundation for existing and future projects. Central Park is added to the real estate projects that include Mayan Lakes and Mayan Island. Sea Garden Hotels has an official site. As does the Mayan Palace. Enjoy the evolution.

Interesting to note - international passenger traffic to the airports served by Grupo Aeroportuario del del Pacifico SA, which is a Mexican company that provides the services infrastructure to airports in several cities in Mexico, including Puerto Vallarta, is down 4.5% this April from last April. Overall, all passenger traffic is down 10.4% for the same period, which implies passenger movement inside Mexico is down this April compared with last April. According to the company's press release, May could be off considerably because of flight cancellations caused by the Swine Flu. A copy of the release is in Current News.

Many of you have contacted us about www.aimfair.com. We made it clear that we are not part of the Grupo Mayan, Grupo Vidanta organization in this website and the Forum and thought a change in the domain name would help as well. We want to be transparent and continue to gain your confidence through www.aimfair.com. Also, you should know that we appreciate hearing from so many of you and your concerns.

We thought you would also be interested in knowing that our viewers have reached almost around the globe. Visitors have come from Australia, the Philippines, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico and the US. As owners, we are happy to know that support for the Luxxe brand is far reaching. We are humbled by your appreciative comments and look forward to providing information as we hear it. Thank you for your continued interest.

For those of you who are interested in canceling reservations because of the Swine Flu scare, don't forget that there is a minimum time period within which you have to cancel, which is 30 days before you travel. We have been told airlines are taking a lenient position as it relates to travel to Mexico during the next week or so. Since no one knows how long this health issue will last, it is a good idea to keep cancellation dates in mind. Also, we received more new telephone numbers from Grand Luxxe Residence Club that you should be aware of, especially now.
April 25, 2009
We received this morning an email from the Grand Luxxe Residence Club that contains new email address information. Also, on the 23rd, we received notice of a telephone number change from 1-800-292-9446 to 1-866-258-7210. The new email addresses suggest to us that the number of Grand Luxxe Residence Club members has grown considerably and Grupo Mayan management is gearing up for the eventual opening of the Grand Luxxe Residence Club. Lots of work and coordination!

It was brought to our attention that the photo album that so elegantly presented the Nuevo Vallarta Grand Luxxe Models are no longer available on Flickr.com. Although the photographer has deleted them from the Flickr.com website that hosted them since September, 2008, they now can be seen on the Interval International website. Copy and paste the following link to the address bar of your browser and you should be able to see them:

http://www.intervalworld.com/web/cs?a=1503&resortCode=LXE&childResortCodes=LXE

Clearly, the photographer is a pro because they are good enough to be placed on the website of a Timeshare Exchange Industry leader. Well done! Thank you for the time you allowed us all to see the beauty of the models and your work.

In our Forum, Kraig posed a question about which location viewers liked better: the Mayan property at Riviera Maya or the Mayan property at Nuevo Vallarta. Recently, the McClure family returned from the Riviera Maya property and provided us with photos of the Luxxe units located there, which provide a wonderful feeling for the property. Take a look at their photos found in the GL Riviera Maya 2 page. They said the units are terrific. Thank you Bob and Christina for your contributions.

Results from our poll are interesting. Sixty percent of the participants want to rent their excess weeks to make a return on their investment. Twenty percent want to cover mandatory maintenance fees. The balance want to use excess weeks or provide a vacation opportunity to strangers.

Renting weeks can be fun, entertaining and rewarding. Fun because of the increased knowledge you gain from the process, entertaining because of the information you get back from your guests and rewarding because of the expanding network of interesting people you become associated with, not to mention the fact that there are monitory rewards as well. As you know from our website, we rent our excess weeks and are very satisfied with the experience.
