2012-04-01 Update - Train Station / Reception Area Called Palacio Maya

We were treated to a tour of the upper floors of the Placio Maya, which we learned is the name of the train station / reception area. This building will serve members and guests in at least three ways. First, it will be the place where members and guests will arrive at and leave from the resort. Second, it will serve as a gathering place. Third, the second floor will be where sales presentations begin. Read more...

2012-03-19 Oaxaca Earthquakes - 7.4 and 5.4 on Richter Scale

Earthquakes are scary. We experienced the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. It rocked our building, which had a cement slab. Seemed we rose and fell two to three feet while the event carried on. The Loma Prieta was 6.9 on the Richter Scale; above ground freeways collapsed; a section of the Bay Bridge fell into the San Francisco Bay, along with a car and an unfortunate driver; and fires in the Marina District in San Francisco. The World Series between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's had to be postponed for weeks.

We can only imagine the fear that residents experienced. Luckily, it appears there was little damage. Whew!

2012-03-11 Update - Nuevo Vallarta and Riviera Maya

Members visiting both Nuevo Vallarta and Riviera Maya have provided us with their updates. There is consistency in what they have been told. That is a good thing. There are also new developments. These impact the number of Grand Luxxe Villa and Grand Luxxe Suite units at Riviera Maya and possibly Nuevo Vallarta.

We have presented our update in the three sections: Expectations of Punta Owners, Grand Luxxe Construction Plans in Nuevo Vallarta and Grand Luxxe Construction Plans in Riviera Maya.

Updates are just what they say they are....a snapshot in time of what we understand to be the current state of affairs. Change is always a possibility.

Our takeaway, as one member put it, is there will be no more Grand Luxxe Villa and Grand Luxxe Suite style units built in Riviera Maya and the time table for completing projects is uncertain at this time. Follow this link to read more...

What do you think? Is travel to Puerto Vallarta too risky for you?

Read a Gatling Blog and Huffington Post reporter's views of the dangers of traveling to tourist spots in Mexico and why travel to these areas may not be as dangerous as generally perceived.

Nuevo Vallarta continues to change. However, Jack-hammers may be quieting down soon. There is not much more demolishing to do on the south tower of the Mayan Palace building.
