This is a great example of the "business model" for Advance Fee Frauds. It goes somethiing along these lines:
  • Purchase a domain name that is similar to a reputable going concern
  • Create a five page website, which is free with the purchase of a domain
  • Obtain telephone numbers
  • Establish an address in a well known building
  • Create a few documents
  • Buy a list of timeshare owners
  • Start calling
  • Make offers
  • Close deals through ficticious escrow companies
  • Blend back into the background.
Commissions are earned on the money that comes in. Victims who say "no" are called by others in the Advance Fee Fraud network. The salesmen are very persuasive and polished. All they are doing is convincing victims to send them money. Once it is in Mexico, the money is lost. Lists of prospective victims come from the resorts without their authorization.

Its a shameless business. One of our members sent money twice before catching on that she was "giving money away". The salesman claims her case was sent to a collection agency. Ultimately, the trail melts away and the money spent is forever gone.

There is no reason to believe in offers that are for more than what is available in the open market. It is very hard to resist the temptation to say "yes". Just say "No".
