Exclusive Event Services

October 3, 2012

We have a new name to add to our Hall of Shame. The name is Exclusive Event Services. Very similar to Event Specialist International, don't you think?

Darlene and Steve brought this company to our attention. Here is what was sent by email from the Exclusive Event Services representative:
Dear Mr. and Mrs.....(sic)

Please read the enclosed agreement. We will need all of the pages signed and faxed back to us. We will also need a copy of the front page of your original sales agreement, to show the contract number and legal names on the contract. If you have already sent it to us, you do not have to do it again.

This is simply to verify ownership and to activate your file.

Thank you,

Peter Ramos

Here are Darlene's and Steve's comments:
Note that this e-mail came from a Peter Ramos in Santa Ana, CA.

We have attached the contract form. The contract is signed by a David Baker and a George Weslay with the same Santa Ana, CA address.

The company web site states that they have been in business since 1999. We were curious and did a website look-up on whois.com http://www.whois.com/whois/exclusiveevent-services.com. We discovered that this web site was only just created on August 21, 2012 and is registered to a Malcolm Roberts in San Francisco, CA.

We looked at the Contact Us page on the company web site and discovered that they would not provide you with any contact info until you first sent them yours to an e-mail address on the page. The address fields were filled in with asterisks (*****), and no telephone numbers are shown.

Doing a Google search on this company comes up with little or no information. If they have been around since 1999, there should be plenty of info about them on the web.

When they called us, we asked them how they knew that we were owners, and they said they found out through government records - we are not sure if this is the case or not, or whether someone inside Grupo Vidanta is feeding them information.

We strongly suspect this is a scam and would like to know if other owners have received similar communications from this company. It`s back to the same old adage . . . if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

We love your adage...if it seems to good to be true, it probably is...
