2019-12-06 Estates Riviera Maya - Update

The Estates Resort Hotels are under construction in the states of Jalisco and Quintana Roo, Mexico. The Jalisco development is further ahead than development at the Quintana Roo property at Vidanta’s Riviera Maya property. This collection of photos provide an aerial history of the Riviera Maya Estates development. There is more to come, and opening could be in 2021. Stay tuned....

2019-11-17 The Estates Nuevo Vallarta - Update

The Jalisco side of the Ameca River is where the West Coast Estates Division development is located. A “Pod” is under development along with four other structures. Two of these structures are along the Boca de Tomates road, and both appear to be nearly 100 yards long. One is one story structure and the other is two stories. There is a beach not far from these buildings. Stay tuned....

2019-11-09 The ambush of Morman women and children near La Mora, Mexico was horrible. But, does that mean Mexico is unsafe? The New York Times thinks so.

Mexico Daily News posted an article that provides more insight to possible reasons for the horrific murder. The article suggests the families were engaged in drilling illegal wells and drawing water away from others in the area. Threats were made on both sides. A fight was brewing. Perhaps, the end result was the tragedy that evolved.

True, nothing is worth the loss of life. But, that said, Mexico is not necessarily unsafe because of this ambush.

2019-08-08 Universal Orlando Announces Best Theme Park Ever

Although we do not visit Florida much, we thought the announcement by Universal Orlando interesting. First, it is announcing a project that is underway, that has no concrete theme yet, is going to be larger than anything else in the Universal portfolio and will be an economic contributor to the area in terms of taxes and employment opportunities. Second, it reinforces the idea that theme parks will be future draws to an area.

All of us are looking forward to the completion of Vidanta World, and the Universal article reinforces the fact that announcements of major projects are published years before a project opens. Phase One of Vidanta World is likely to open in 2022, three years from now and five years from the first year dirt started to move in earnest. Stay tuned....

2019-08-06 The Yucatan Times reports Vidanta is taking an active role in keeping Sargassum from building up on beaches. Barriers are being installed and harvesting boats are taking the Sargassum buildup from the barriers for further processing. Thousands of tons of material is being taken from the ocean. Favorable currents and winds are helping too.

2019-08-04 The Secretary of the Mexican Navy Says Sargassum on Riviera Maya Beaches will be gone in Six Weeks.

This was disclosed in a news article that appeared on August 2, 2019 in the Mexico News Daily. Efforts by over 10,000 people and new equipment has disposed more than 57,000 tons of the material. Helping matters are changes in wind and current patterns.

Although Sargassum can be difficult to have around because of the pungent odor, tourism continues to improve in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico. Grupo Vidanta opened in July its Luxury Water Park. This is just one example of attractions that continue to lure International travelers to Mexico’s Caribbean beaches. Stay tuned...

2019-07-31 Vidanta Riviera Maya management is taking steps to keep Sargassum off the beach by installing barriers that appear to be a form of harvesting devices. The barriers hold the Sargassum in place while management brings along a floating device that extracts the Sargassum from the barrier. Interesting approach, and certainly a welcome one if it works. Stay tuned....!!
