The most recent Vida Vibe Newsletter hit our email in-box with news about the new Greg Norman golf course that is currently under construction on Vidanta's Nuevo Vallarta property. Nice holes of the par 70 course are scheduled to open Spring, 2015. Here is what the article has to say:We are excited to share that the first nine holes of the Greg Norman Golf Course are scheduled to open this coming Spring in Nuevo Vallarta. This signature golf course designed by Greg Norman is situated along the Ameca River and is surrounded by natural beauty. Because the design bears his name, Greg Norman has been involved with every step of the golf course design process, from walking the virgin site to planning and construction. Norman hopes to be present on opening day.It is located across the river. Should be ineresting. Maybe we can get photos of the new course during our next visit in November.
This 18 hole, par 70, championship course will allow playability for all levels. The course is a mix of low rolling fairways bordered by native trees, lakes, and bunker areas. The grass selected for the river course is Paspalum and will create an excellent playing surface.
Bunkers, lakes, and others hazards are placed to make the course challenging to low handicap and advanced golfers, and leaves wide fairways and open areas for high handicap players and beginners.
The Greg Norman designers follow a least-disturbance approach that protects and incorporates the natural beauty of the site. The landscape, both on and off the course, is rich with tropical trees like mango, coconut, papaya, plum, tamarind, guava, banana, and plantain.
