The paved road in the El Encanto de La Laguna photos is the "inland route" of Camino Cabo Este. The "coast route" is for vehicles designed to drive in rough, off road, unpaved conditions.
There are two ways to access Grupo Vidanta's East Cape property north of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. One is the upper, newly paved road and the other is the graded, unpaved coast road. This photo is the upper, newly paved road.
We spoke with Paul Meredeth, the owner and operator of Buzzard's Bar and Grill on June 27, 2016. He confirmed that the coast road will not be paved. It will ultimately be replaced by golf courses and resorts that are planned for the six to eight mile stretch from Buzzard'sBar and Grill and El Encanto de La Laguna (They are very close to one another.) to Zacatitos and Punta Gorda. Zacatitos is where Vidanta plans to build the East Cape resorts. Read more here.
