The Beach Club and Noisy HVAC Units - Update From BeachWalkerBob

July 15, 2016

BeachWalkerBob's July 15, 2016 update continues:
The Beach Club:
Another interesting development are the changes taking place at the The Beach Club. It looks as though the restaurant is expanding and the landscaping is changing. Take a look:

Noise From the HVAC Units - Deafening Up Close:
New HVAC Blowers have been installed. There are now six of these big units. They traditionally sit on the roof tops of tall buildings. In the case of the buildings at Riviera Maya, they are concentrated in one plade at ground level.

BeachWalkerBob had this to say about the noise level at his unit in Building Two:
Hola Bob,

The sound of jack hammers fills the air and even side of Building 2 where we are now the sound penetrates the walls. Outside, the jackhammers are deafening. The other direction has the sound of huge industrial air conditioning units roaring. You can hear them inside and really loud outside on the balcony. That is why we like to stay on the ocean side of Building 1 where it faces away from the huge noisy AC units and the hammering and beeping of Building 4. In a few months the hammering jackhammers in Building 4 will be gone and only the jet engine sound of the AC units by the tennis courts will remain. We stayed in 3707, third floor Building 1, facing the huge and noisy AC cooling units and we could hardly hear each other speaking when out on the deck. The resort needs to install a high sound proof wall around the noisy units to deflect the noise upward away from the GL buildings.

And Joseph R had this to say about the noise level on TripAdvisor:
Author: Joseph R - June, 2016

....I would echo much of the positive comments from the most recent reviews. I will try to describe some activities and features not mentioned recently.

Grand Luxxe has 3, 3 story buildings with one under construction. Our unit was on the third floor facing south. We had a jungle view. Pretty constant hum from what I am assuming was the air conditioning units for several of the buildings. Not overwhelming but I would select another side of the building if possible.
Lots of change and interesting developments.....
