Vidanta Elegant in Puerto Vallarta in November, 2021

Vidanta Cruises Plans to Set Sail in April, 2022

February 8, 2022

You may have received an invitation to join Vidanta on the first cruise that is planned for April 14, 2022. Cruise Industry News and other outlets have published the story as well. It is relevant that Vidanta Elegant is the first ship to be home ported in Puerto Vallarta. Here is the article:

Vidanta Cruises Slated to Start Cruising in April

Grupo Vidanta today announced that Vidanta Cruises, Mexico's first-ever luxury cruise line, will sail on April 14 with the Vidanta Elegant offering a two-night debut itinerary calling in Mazatlán, sailing roundtrip from Puerto Vallarta.

The sailing is available to guests of Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta.

The 298-guest ship was acquired in 2017 and refurbished by the hotel group prior to the pandemic, and has been laid up in Mexico since.

"When we began the process of bringing Vidanta Cruises to life, we were very clear that we wanted to exceed our guests' expectations, while also positively impacting Mexico and our people. After an arduous process, we couldn't be happier with the result. Not only have we become the first Mexican developer to operate both on land and at sea, but we are generating direct and indirect jobs that will benefit many communities along Mexico's Pacific Coast, and we are positioning our country as a world-class tourist destination," said Ivan Chavez, executive vice president of Grupo Vidanta.

"We wish to take this opportunity to reiterate Grupo Vidanta’s commitment to the development of Mexico. We will continue working to inspire generations of happiness and revolutionize the tourism industry," he said.
We did find out there are three options you can sign up for, all of which are for three days and two nights:
  • Option #1 - Book a week at the resort from Saturday to Saturday, arrive at the resort the preceeding Wednesday, board the ship on Thursday, sail to Mazatlan and arrive on Friday, take a City Tour, return to the ship in the afternoon and return to Puerto Vallarta for a Saturday arrival to start your week at the resort.
  • Option #2 - Add the extra three days at the end of your week stay at the resort.
  • Option #3 - Arrive at the resort on Saturday for your booked week, board the ship on Monday for a three day cruise to Mazatlan and return to the resort to complete your week on Wednesday.
  • Prices vary by stateroom. As examples, one of 13 staterooms would cost $1,396 USD and another would cost $3,793 USD. All prices are per couple, and they include taxes and tips. Meals, beverages and other purchases are extra. Prices are in addition to the maintenance fee paid for the week at the resort.

Member Experiences
On Friday, February 11, 2022, one Aimfair member said he called to make a reservation for a cruise in November. He asked questions, liked the answers and booked a 3 day cruise. The agent remarked that he was the first one to make a reservation (Maybe for that agent?). That's interesting, he thought. A couple of days later, he received a call from Vidanta Cruises. The agent informed him that his reservation was cancelled, and reservations are being taken only through April, 2022.

What's your experience?

Chances are demand has to be high before supply increases. Vidanta Cruises certainly does not want to make reservations too far out without first filling dates that are within a shorter window, maybe three months or so. Makes sense to us....
Let us know if you sign up for the first cruise. We would love to see your photos and hear your comments.
