Riviera Maya Water Park and Lazy River
February 10, 2019
February 20, 2019: Atlantabusch returned from a wonderful visit to the Riviera Maya Luxxe property and had this to say:Just got back from a wonderful week at the Riviera Maya Vidanta location. Walked by the new water park from The Bliss looking westward. Saw:Kathy has cleared the air by sending us plans for the Riviera Water Park, an area that has been discussed since before November, 2010.
- Tons of people (dozens) working on the park.
- The big Water Bucket and supporting structure was installed and painted
- The lazy river poured and painted white
- 4 Water slide tubes installed on a huge tower
- Large PVC water lines run all over the place.
Also walked up to the 3rd floor of a one of the Grand Luxxe Jungle and could see a second tower in the background that was stood up and what appeared to be a big pool poured (Wave Pool maybe). This was impressive and the progress aligned to the June 2019 date that the sales rep told me that would be grand opening date.
Also, over heard that access to the water park will be free with a Grand Luxxe rental as opposed to just having the wrist band (eg Stay at Grand Bliss with black Grand Luxxe wrist band). Not sure how this would work, but they said it was tied to the usage fee paid. All other brands not GL will need to pay for access. Stay tuned.
The plans closely resemble the architect's renderting at the top of the page, don't you think?
Then jssquared shared videos of the area. Tap the links that appear below:
Our first indication that a Lazy River was in place came when Ken sent his photos taken on November 23, 2010 of the structure.
Then, on June 15, 2017, 7 years later, we received photos from BeachWalkerBob. At about that time, reports were there were too many snakes in the area, so the Lazy River was not going to open.
Just a month later, Actionslax found a relatively clean section of the Lazy River.
Now, we see much more work being done in the area.
It won't be long before the area looks like this:
